  • Omar Juweinat commenced his legal career in 2003 as a researcher to Peter Hamill SC, now a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Between 2007 and 2009 he practised as a lawyer with the Aboriginal Legal Service in the Dubbo, Bourke and Sydney regions, gaining invaluable experience across diverse communities and jurisdictions.

    Over the past two decades, Omar has developed a reputation as a highly skilled and respected criminal defence lawyer. He regularly appears in the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court, Courts of Criminal Appeal and Supreme Courts across Australia. He is frequently retained in major and complex criminal trials and appeals, including homicide cases, large-scale frauds and serious importation matters.

    Beyond criminal litigation, Omar also acts for multinational corporations in sectors such as finance, healthcare and technology, advising on regulatory compliance, external investigations and cross-border disputes. He advises both individuals and companies under investigation for economic crime in Australia and abroad, and has worked on matters involving agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, IRS, SEC, DEA, Department of Defense, FTC, the U.S. Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. State Department. He is also often retained to advise in complex commercial litigation.

    He has a particular interest in the law relating to mental health defences, police powers and asset confiscation under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Cth). Omar has also conducted more than 1,000 hearings before the State Parole Authority and regularly appears in proceedings before the Australian and New South Wales Crime Commissions, as well as the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity.

    Since 2019, he has been consistently recognised in Doyle’s Guide as one of New South Wales’ Leading Criminal Defence Lawyers, underscoring his standing as a sought-after and highly respected advocate.

  • Since graduating with a double bachelor’s degree in law and arts from the University of Adelaide, Daniel has achieved a significant presence in the field of criminal defence, named as a Criminal Law Rising Star by the Doyle’s Guide five times since his admission as a lawyer.

    While undergoing his legal training in Adelaide, Daniel moved to Sydney where he found his passion for criminal law working in numerous boutique defence firms. Daniel joined Aquila Lawyers in 2020 and regularly appears across the Local Court, District Court and Supreme Court jurisdictions, both as a solicitor-advocate and instructing counsel.

    His academic success, which included a major in International Politics, is reflected in his ability to craft persuasive arguments and form compelling submissions. Recognised for his skills and etiquette by both the Crown and the Criminal Defence Bar, Daniel’s enthusiasm, resilience and commitment has made him a respected and formidable practitioner across multiple jurisdictions.
